Back to the 80’s

Where it all began

Italian sport climbing was born in the Sarca Valley, and with it an essential, old-school style, made of friction and control more than brute strength. The Style Masterclass returns to those places to rediscover that way of climbing, with those who have always taught it.

The problem

Slab is the most underrated technique

Most climbers train overhangs and power, and neglect slab, exactly where precision, balance and body control matter more than strength. And it is often the terrain where you feel most insecure, even after years of climbing.

What you will learn

A style, not just movements

Who leads

Led by Mattia Filippi, Sport Climbing Instructor (Maestro di Arrampicata Sportiva) - Caruso Method, 1st-degree IAMAS, together with Christian Giovannini, Postural Gymnastics Instructor: two complementary views of the same movement, the climbing technique and the body control that makes it possible.

Frequently asked questions
What level do I need to take part?
The Masterclass is designed for people who already climb: having followed the Caruso Method courses is excellent but not essential; what matters is wanting to refine style and friction on slab. For those who haven’t followed the Caruso Method courses, it is a great opportunity to start studying technique and continue with a specific course.
Where do we sleep?
We are looking for shared accommodation for the whole group, depending on availability in the Sarca Valley that weekend. Food, accommodation and transport are at the participants’ expense.
What do I need to bring?
[To be defined: technical equipment needed for the two days.]
What if the places run out?
With only 10 places available for this first weekend, those who join the waiting list have priority on the next scheduled events.
