What they are

The Movement Matrices

The Movement Matrices and the walking techniques are the latest major development of the Caruso Method: exercises and techniques designed to train the technical elements shared by all mountain activities, from walking to rock and ice climbing, up to ski mountaineering.

Precisely because they cut across disciplines, the Matrices are above all a very effective way to improve walking, and to do it with more awareness. But their effect goes beyond the single gesture: they work deeply on the motor “roots” and correct the wrong movement habits we have carried for years.

What we train

Different disciplines share the same aspects of movement. The Matrices identify them and make them trainable, for a more natural and harmonious movement.

  • · Coordination and motor intelligence
  • · Balance
  • · Efficiency and energy saving
  • · Safety
  • · Breathing
Who it is for

For people who live the outdoors

01

You walk and go trekking

Climbs, descents and uneven terrain: understanding how to manage your body weight makes every step more efficient.

02

You do trail running

Climbs, descents and technical terrain: rhythm, foot placement and breathing make the difference. Movement is studied, not improvised.

03

You go mountaineering or climb

Alpinism, long routes, climbing: movement efficiency decides how much energy you have left.

04

You want to move with more awareness

Whatever sport you do, understanding how you use your body makes you more aware and efficient.

What we work on

Studying how the body moves

Every efficient movement comes from a principle: the body always has two centres of gravity in play, and knowing how to manage them is what separates a movement that burns energy from one that saves it.

  • · Double weight and two centres of gravity
  • · Finding the centre and the posture of the body
  • · Foot placement: from heel to toe
  • · Rhythm: dynamic phase and static phase
  • · Breathing in the static and dynamic phase
