Caruso Method · 1-weekend course

Movement can be learned.
Before you climb.

A weekend on the ground and on the wall to build the core concept of the Caruso Method: the double weight and the two centres of gravity. The foundations that make every technical gesture more efficient, even before talking about grade.

Movement Matrices

Course of 1 weekend €120per person

The double weight, the two centres of gravity, the posture of the body: the ground work that comes before every technical gesture, then transferred to the rock.

What they are

The Movement Matrices

The Movement Matrices and the walking techniques are the latest major development of the Caruso Method: exercises and techniques designed to train the technical elements shared by all mountain activities, from walking to rock and ice climbing, up to ski mountaineering.

Precisely because they cut across disciplines, the Matrices are above all a very effective way to improve walking, and to do it with more awareness. But their effect goes beyond the single gesture: they work deeply on the motor “roots” and correct the wrong movement habits we have carried for years.

What we train

Different disciplines share the same aspects of movement. The Matrices identify them and make them trainable, for a more natural and harmonious movement.

  • · Coordination and motor intelligence
  • · Balance
  • · Efficiency and energy saving
  • · Safety
  • · Breathing
Who it is for

No need to know how to climb already

01

You have never climbed

Starting from the Movement Matrices is the best way to build solid foundations, without bad habits to correct later.

02

You tire too soon

If you use more strength than necessary and reach the anchor exhausted, the problem is almost always how you manage the double weight.

03

You freeze on difficult moves

Your body could keep going, but the wrong posture stops you. We work on the centre and the two centres of gravity until it becomes automatic.

04

You want to understand the Caruso Method

A weekend to try the system before a longer path: the core concept from which everything else starts.

What we work on

Double weight, two centres of gravity

Every efficient movement on the vertical comes from a single principle: the body always has two centres of gravity in play, and knowing how to manage them is what separates a movement that burns energy from one that saves it.

  • · The double weight and the two centres of gravity: the concept everything starts from
  • · Finding the centre and the posture of the body in every position
  • · Isolating a single component of the movement and making it automatic
  • · Transferring the ground work onto the rock, from the easiest slabs to vertical terrain

How we work

First on the ground, then on the wall

1

Ground work

Without the extra variable of the wall it is easier to isolate a single component of the movement, understand it, and repeat it until it becomes natural.

2

Transfer to the wall

The same principles are then applied on the rock, progressing from the easiest slabs to vertical terrain.

How it works

Three steps, and you’re at the weekend

1

You write to me

On WhatsApp or through the form: tell me your level and the days you are free.

2

We organise

I suggest the most suitable date and crag, and tell you what to bring.

3

You build the foundations

A weekend to work on double weight, centres of gravity and posture: the foundations of every technical gesture to come.

Frequently asked questions
Is it suitable for beginners too?
Yes, in fact: starting here is the best way to build solid foundations without bad habits to correct later. It is also useful for those who have climbed for a long time and want to eliminate wasted energy.
What is the difference from a normal climbing course?
A normal course takes you straight onto the wall. Here the work starts on the ground, isolating the individual components of movement, and then transfers them to the rock on solid foundations.
How long does it last and what do I need to bring?
[weekend times and equipment needed]
How many are in the group?
